Exciting news! We’ve just added new desktop and industrial SLA materials to our platform.

We’ve standardized our selection of desktop resins to these Formlabs materials:

  • Formlabs Standard resin: Made to achieve a high-level of detail and performance without reducing the strength of the part. It comes in black, white, grey or clear. Properties for Formlabs Black may vary.
  • Formlabs Grey Pro resin: Offers high precision, moderate elongation, and low creep. This material is great for concept modeling and functional prototyping, especially for parts that will be handled repeatedly.
  • Formlabs Clear resin: Great for fluidics and mold making, optics, lighting, and any parts requiring translucency or showcasing internal features. Has a semi-transparent appearance.
  • Formlabs Durable resin: Has a low modulus, high elongation, and high impact strength. It produces parts with a smooth, glossy finish and high resistance to deformation. Ideal for applications requiring minimal friction.
  • Formlabs High Temp resin: Has high stiffness and excellent temperature resistance.
  • Formlabs Flexible resin: 80-85A Shore hardness material for more rigid flexible parts with a matte-black soft-touch finish.
  • Formlabs Tough resin: Has properties of ABS and produces parts with improved mechanical properties compared to other resins. Can be used for functional parts.
  • Formlabs Rigid resin: Reinforced with glass to offer very high stiffness and a polished finish. This material is highly resistant to deformation over time and is great for printing thin walls and features.

We recommend these desktop resins for highly detailed, visual prototypes.

We’ve also introduced industrial SLA materials, including:

  • Accura 25: Accurate and flexible plastic ideal for snap fit assemblies, durable functional prototypes with the aesthetics of molded polypropylene (PP).
  • Accura 60: Produces rigid and strong parts with the aesthetics of molded polycarbonate (PC).
  • Accura Xtreme white 200: Excellent strength, durability, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy.

Please note, these industrial SLA materials are currently unavailable in Australia and New Zealand.

These industrial SLA materials are more suited for highly detailed, functional prototypes and master patterns for casting.

Industrial SLA vs desktop: What’s the difference?

In comparison with desktop SLA, industrial SLA can:

  • produce more accurate parts (industrial from 30 microns vs desktop 240 microns)
  • handle materials with better mechanical properties (Shore hardness, high temperatures, etc.)

However, industrial SLA does come at a higher price point. For a more detailed comparison, check out this article.
