Today we are proud to announce that we are expanding our offering to include Sheet Metal Fabrication. We are currently at EMO Hannover, the world's largest trade show for the metalworking industry, demoing the new offering. So, if you’re around, make sure to drop by our booth (J19, Hall 8).

Why Sheet Metal Fabrication?

Sheet Metal Fabrication is a cost-effective technology used for thin metal parts, that’s well-suited for both prototypes and finished products. A key technology in many industries, Sheet Metal Fabrication is used in the production of everything from cars and space rockets to air conditioners and soda cans.

“We want to be a one-stop-shop for manufacturing,” says Protolabs Network's CEO Bram de Zwart, “and that means making sure engineers have what they need, when they need it. Adding sheet metal fabrication is all part of our mission to provide the easiest and most efficient way to source high-quality parts.”

How does it work?

Just like with all of our other technologies (3D printing and CNC Machining), engineers can select Sheet Metal Fabrication as a technology via our online platform. The range of materials offered include aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel and copper. Sheet metal can be processed via either laser cutting or bending.

Materials offered

  • Aluminum 6061-T6
  • Aluminum 5754
  • Aluminum 5052
  • Mild Steel 1018
  • Stainless Steel 304
  • Stainless Steel 316L
  • Copper C110

Available processes

  • [Laser cutting](https://www.hubs.com/blog/laser-cutting) - 0.5 - 10 mm thick
  • Bending - 0.5 - 6 mm thick

Our Sheet Metal Fabrication service promises competitive pricing, readily available capacity and short lead times. All you need to do is upload your design, specify your requirements, and you will instantly receive a guaranteed quote. Once the quote is accepted, the order is confirmed with one of our 250 manufacturing partners.

Adding Sheet Metal Fabrication to our services  brings us another step closer to our vision of a fully distributed global supply chain for manufacturing.
