After uploading a file it looks like the max of x,y and z from an uploaded file is
matched againts printers available at canidate hubs.

But the printer stored attributes about build area seems to be in some uncertain w,d,h or h,w,d or whatever.
Is this true, anyone authorized?

I had a big! drawing of x=250,y=140,z=5 (mm) which I was forced to reduce to x=140,y=140 to have it offered from a know hub.
They had a Makerbot Replicator 2

I think the values of max x,y,z should be displayed at each hubs printer attributes
as x=xxx,y=yyy,z=zzz

Hi!

It is true that we check if a model can be printed by the hub’s printers. You can check the build dimensions for that printer at FDM 3D Printing Service | Instant Quotes, Online Ordering | Hubs . You can also disable that check by turning off the “Hide incompatible printers” option under “advanced options” on the /3dprint page.

Pedro

Hej Pedro!
And thank you for the link to the printer attribute page.
But can you explain why - in the above case - the 140X140X40 was accepted but not a x=250,y=140,z=5 was accepted?

The Dimensions from printers attribute is 28.5 x 15.3 x 15.5 cm
so it should be accepted?

Are there severals sources for the attributes ?
one for the printer web page and another in the database used in evaluating the fittnes

Perhaps I sound crazy but I want to print a lot of objects in the size 40X40X4 mm
at the same time and want to will fill the whole x-y-plane

Found some oddities

says 28.5 x 15.3 x 15.5 cm
but

says 15.3 x 28.5 x 15.5 cm

Yeah. I think this is an example of 3DHubs getting just a bit too clever for their own ( and our! ) good. In the UK we call this “Over-egging the pudding”. I think we’re all capable of deciding if we can print a file or not. Besides. I’ve made plenty of builds from several printed parts, where I’ve taken a single design and split it according to the requirements of my printer. C’mon 3DH. I’m sure there are plenty of other ways you can improve the Customer Experience.

Hi, willy!

That sounds strange indeed. Could you maybe attach the 25*14*0.5 file so I can test it out?

Cheers,

Pedro

Oh… They are being shown in different order. Thanks for pointing it out!

Hey! That’s a fair point. However, keep in mind that from a newbie perspective, it can become quite a frustration if you try to order a print for the first time and the hub will have to decline because his build area is too small. So, I understand your point about “Over-egging the pudding” but not everyone is as knowledgable as you on 3D printing.

Hej Pedro

How do I attach files in this forum?

I could load two files into the hub where one has the xy-plane rotated 90 degrees around z

willy

well I have uploaded two files

same content but objects arranged differently in the xy-plane
