Hey all I got my first ever 3d printer yesterday and every time I print a calibration cube or any other item it comes out really bad quality. I would love some help from anyone that can help me fix my issues. I have levelled out my bead several times and made sure to always print around 215 but no matter what speed or heat I use it turns out the same.
Do you have pictures.?? This will help troubleshooting
Here is one of the test cubes i did. They turn out pretty good except that corner.
Looks like temp is too high. And under extrusion. What bed temp and slicer are you using? Was this cube printed alone? Or was there more than one object being printed at the same time? Also is this PLA?
Printing at 215 using the makerware software provided with the printer. Tried to use Slic3r but it wnt do the file type the printer neads
Havent used makerware in a long time lol. Did you measure the diameter of your fillament and get an average to put in the slicer settings? Is this ABS or PLA? And i was asking about heated bed temp.
I usd pla. i dnt heat the bed. I belive unheated it is aroud 40. I measured the filament yes and put in 1.75
Try puting in 1.65mm and droping print temp to around 205. What speed was this printed at mm/s
That 1 was 60 mms but i have put it down to 38 mms but it does the same thing. Is there a better slicer you would reccomend
I use Simplify3D its expensive but well worth it. Slic3r will work and put out x3g files just have to do some googling to figure it out. Simplify already has that built in.
Cool. I will have a look into it
Slow down and drop the temp to 195-200. 215 is pretty high for PLA.
Why would you put in a filament diameter that isn’t accurate? That is just going to compound the problem.
As i remember makerware didnt have the option to change flow rate. The only way to do it was adjust filament diameter and smaller would push more plastic.
Also for a hollow test cube with PLA and no cooling fan. 38mm/s is still too fast. Try printing 25mm/s and print 2 at the same time.
Ok will try that. Hopefully i will get it sorted soon as i got loads of upgrades to print for the printer.
That is pretty bizarre then. Seems I remember something about feed rate but I skipped right by Makerware to S3D.
Yea S3D and a cooling fan makes all the difference in the world.
Is there a cooling fan mount i can print for the ctc. As cant find 1 on thingiverse.
