Hi…

I just purchased a Zortrax M200. It’s currently printing the “rook” included with the SD card, and it looks great. However, I tried to install the ZSuite software on my MAC (OS El Capitan), and it wouldn’t open, despite restarts and reinstalls.

Has anyone else had this problem? I’ve seen ZSuite working on MACs before, so I’m not sure why I’m having trouble.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello,

Exactly, you need to use Mono Framework in order to make Z-Suite work on MAC OS.

Make sure that you’ve installed exactly 4.0.4.4 version, otherwise - it wont work.

Regards,

Try to install the version 4.0.4.4 of Mono.

Hello,

What is your IOS version?

What Zsuite release you have installed?

Regards,

Z suite, work on macs although slower a lot buggy than the windows one. I can assure you that it;s working on Yosemite with no major problems. I will test it out on the El Captain today and let you know if I’m having the same problems. Did you start a thread on Zortrax forum?

Get the mono frame work as stated above. You may have to uninstall and reinstall a few times. Once it is up it will run all the time, but the slicing can take a long time on large files. For me, it’ll hang at 1% for like 20 minutes, then jump to 44%, then be done in 2 minutes afterwards. I’m running El Capitan on a MacBook.

Thanks guys, I will give this a try. Hope it works!

Also, do you guys have any tips for removing prints from the bed of the Zortrax? I’ve made two prints so far, and I find it unbelievably difficult to remove them from the bed using the included paint scraper. Are there any tricks you can recommend?

Thanks!

Use the scraper. They are difficult to remove, but that is a good thing. Don’t worry about cleaning out the holes. I have a few hundred hours of printing on the Zortrax and I love it.

UPDATE: Just installed the software successfully. However, when I open it (I’ve done so three times) it times out and stops responding at the “ENTER SERIAL NUMBER” prompt.

I’m running OS X Yosemite (10.10.5).

Any idea why I’m having this problem?

I had the same issue. I can’t remember exactly what I did, but I think I waited for like 20 minutes and it worked. If not, call Zortrax.

I posted a lengthy explanation of my experiences with this software and Zortrax’s support on another 3dhubs thread, “New Zortrax M200 Software 1.5.0.1 crashes mac”. Here is the bottom line of my rambling:

  • If you are on OS X 10.9 Mavericks or earlier, Z-Suite 1.5.1 will not run. Z-Suite versions 1.4.1 or earlier will run. However, the Split Object function won’t work and if you stick with that version you will miss out on future improvements and/or bug fixes.
  • Z-Suite 1.5.1 runs fine on OS X 10.10 Yosemite and 10.11 El Capitan. In my case, the first time I tried to open Z-Suite the icon just “bounced” for quite a long time (2 or 3 min?) but then it opened. I’m on OS X 10.11.3 (early 2008 Mac Pro, SSD, 14 Gb ram) and everything seems to work great.
  • Regardless of the OS or the version of Z-Suite, you must install Mono Framework version 4.0.4.4 and only that version.

FWIW, I just installed 1.8.1(and Mono 4.0.4) on macOS Sierra 10.12.3, and it just wouldn’t come up, kept beachballing and then Force Quit showed it as “Not Responding”.

So I waited. A _really_ long time. And it came right up.

Software!

Did you install the Mono environment version 4.0.4.4 before installing Z-Suite? Z-Suite won’t run on a Mac without it and my experience (a year ago) was it won’t run in later versions of Mono, just that one. Oh, and as you probably already read, even when it’s working properly Z-Suite takes a long time to boot. On my setup, “a long time” is just under two minutes.

Yes, installed Z-Suite after Mono 4.0.4.4, fired it up, thought it was lost, got distracted, and it eventually came up. Still kind of a nighmare on the Mac, I need to rebuild my PC to really “use” Z-Suite, but that’s a whole nother rathole.
