My Zaxis motor output doesn’t run any motor after this happened:

(Support Ticket)

After assembling the Tevo Tarantula, upon first homing, my stepper motor connected to the Z axis made a loud grinding noise then stopped. I tried again and it did nothing. I Googled it and checked the wiring. Tried another motor on the z axis connection and it did nothing. Tried the original motor off of the printer assembly, connected to the E1 connection(in fear of breaking another axis connection) and it made the same loud noise once I moved the sensor and heating element wires for E0 to the connectors for E1, preheating, and extruding with repetier host. (had to preheat otherwise got a cold extrusion error). On top of that, the LCD recognizes the SD is inserted, but will not read it. I tried another SD same thing. Googled it and apparently that’s a semi common problem and I am unsure if it’s related to the motor. Anyway, I did all the troubleshooting I could. I was really excited for this kit, and anxiously waited 16 days for it to come in. Im not looking forward to waiting on the new parts, but I spent way too long assembling this thing for it not to work. Just disappointed I can’t start makering yet.

Thank you,
Taylor

In the mean time while I wait could I buy a cheap stepping motor and connect it to the E1 connector and reprogram the Z axis output in repetier or marlin?
