Hello, this printer is my first and im not too experienced with 3d printing. I found a large blob of filament jamming the extruder and after taking it apart and further inspecting it, it seems to be practically cemented to the nozzle. I will attach images below. I need help with safely removing the jam without damaging the extruder, which runs for about $70. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

That’s sure is a lot. I have had a similar problem, though not as bad.

if it’s ABS then acetone will slowly dissolve it but it might loosen the grip and make it easier to remove within 12 or so hours. Otherwise I think you can heat up the extruder and hope to melt it loose.

If if you have a hacksaw blade you’ll be able to cut a fair bit of that off around the sides and it might start to break away easier after that. Either way it’ll be a long process of cutting and dissolving.

It was pla but I managed to saw the majority of it away then use a lighter to burn off the remaining plastic. I’m now back to printing and everything is coming out decently, thanks!

If you have a blow dryer that should help loosen It up you can also try a little bit of acetone I would highly recommend getting a piece of your filament and canola oil that helps prevent clogs you also might want to print a filament Oiler

Hope this helps

You will have to heat it up. I had a jam like that (the part came loose from the build plate and just kept feeding into the glob) I used a soldering iron to melt the plastic away in chunks. It really stinks doing it that way, so do it in a well ventilated area
