Hello all, I recently purchased a Da Vinci 1.0a. I bought it even knowing that the printer requires u buy xyz filament. I researched and found out that I could use a cartridge resetter to be able to use 3rd party filament. I tried that but noticed that on some PLA the temperatures vary. Without being able to change temperatures, my extruder kept clogging and jamming while trying to print. I did a little more research and read about flashing the printer and installing repetier firmware. As I did a little more research I read that simplify 3d sofware can increase the extruder and bed temperatures to whatever you need. I bought the program and started using it. The unit starts to print great but about half way thru my print the extruder get clogged and jammed again. It has done this with every 3rd party PLA filament I have. Any suggestions or settings that I have to change or hardware I need to install? Do I need to change the nozzle? Ur feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Cant use PLA with stock da vinci. I modified mine to print PLA.

I haven’t tried printing with PLA. It is possible. I imagine you’d have to upgrade the extruder which is possible. Someone out there has done it. Play around with the heat temps, up or down might stop the clogging. I am not experienced with PLA as of yet. I also have run into 80% of the problems you will run into on this machine and I have that in video form if you like. Also I would be happy to talk to you about the machine when you have a question. I have found that the flashing of the cartridge has worked. I had the same problem with the head clogging and the filament stripping in the gears. I found that the less tension there is on the filament the better (meaning I place the filament spool directly above the printer. Also I print with Matter hackers PLA-PHA. I have not had a lot of jamming issues. Give it a try. I found that basically the best way to prevent jamming is to print at medium speed and make sure the filament is not being “pulled” much.

Why not just add cooling? You guys are making this way harder than it should be. Also if you really want to have 0 issues, youll need a different extruder. The best one for the da vinci is the E3DV6 mod. If you don’t want to do that, then I suggest getting a new printer or sticking with ABS.
