I have a Wanhao Duplicator i3 plus and am noticing what I think is a slicing issue. The bottom layers are completely solid while the top layers are partially filled. I have fill set at 100%
Any ideas why this has occurred?

HI @jfred possibly slight underextrusion? Bear in mind the bottom layers can be different from top layers because they have a solid flat surface to “squish” down upon; top layers are resting only on the filament beneath them so, depending upon your fill setting and the number of solid layers you print, they can look quite different.
Have you tried using a rectilinear fill pattern rather than honeycomb?

Hi @cobnut, thanks for the tip. I looked at all the standard causes for underextrusion without any luck. I cleaned the filament feed, changed ptfe tube and cleaned nozzle.
I then closely looked at the extrusion. From what I can see the extruder is skipping rows.
This print is setup as 100% fill so by that it should be solid. Tomorrow I am going to try a gcode that previously printed good to confirm my suspicion.

Ok so i did the test with the previous good gcode. It printed perfectly.
The only difference between the two was the fill percentage. The one that printed perfectly had 30% fill while the one that printed incorrectly had fill set at 100%.
I have gone back to my previous good setting and made sure the fill is set at 30%. *Fingers crossed*
