A repeat customer of mine starts up an inquiry, I convert it to an order, and I discover I can’t choose a printer without accepting the order!
Changes like this are so incredibly unprofessional and really damage our relationships with our customers.
This is beyond irritating.

Ran into this exact situation recently as well. After my observations over the last couple months, I wouldn’t be surprised if this gets “fixed” by removing inquiries altogether. They see the hubs as the weakest link in their platform and want to limit our involvement in an order as much as possible.
As for “relationships with our customers”, 3d hubs is making it very clear, through their actions, that they wish these relationships did not exist. They are running this thing by numbers now, not relationships. You see they are very busy working on “improvements” all the time yet things like the hub pages, and many other hub specific things get no attention, no matter how much we complain. At the same time they have no problem making huge changes without notice when it comes to things no one asked for. Anything you don’t see getting worked on, or “fixed”, is probably never getting fixed because it’s something they want to phase out altogether. Supposedly, more big changes to everything are coming soon and I’m not optimistic.
Just one guy’s observation. Their responses to these issues (or lack of) have forced me to these conclusions.
Many more observations here, including response from one of the 3dhubs founders (Brian): Talk Manufacturing | Hubs
Good luck to you.

Sadly, I share in your lack of optimism. I lost a large order a couple weeks ago because I told the customer I did not want to take the order ‘outside’ of 3D Hubs, he was trying to place a large order for prints with exotic material (BronzeFill) and was having a hard time finding it. I told him I could do the adjustment, but he just got frustrated and went to another shop, who incidentally used to be on 3D Hubs and has already quit.
I also agree. The hubs were a bit confusing when I joined some time back but it was doable with some questions and advice from the group. Now it is downright impossible to get anything accomplished. I would like to know how many jobs have waled away from me due to the completely ridiculous setup they have developed.
I wanted to remain optimistic that good things were to come but I don’t think it is going to happen.
The biggest thing I see right now is FDM hubs seem to be getting pushed out. My customers keep getting pushed toward more expensive processes which do not suit the part they need at all.
I have also had complaints about not being able to find my hub because of new processes.
Hi @eckerj,
It seems like fixing an issue with orders going from inquiry to processing has made this block allowing you to change the materials and printers disappear. It is definitely not an intentional change.
It is already reported as a bug and will be tackled as soon as we can.
Apologies for the frustrations caused by this bug.
Best,
Arnoldas - 3D Hubs

Thanks @Arnoldas for stepping in here and on the order. Hopefully the developers can correlate event logs for my order with the problem I was having yesterday.
