I got an email from 3D Hubs complaining that “some Hubs are not shipping parts in a box that was tab-locking” and that “not following the packaging guidelines will lead to exclusion from the manufacturing partner program”.
So where are we supposed to get these “brown, tab locking boxes” ??
When searching for them I have run into a number of issues:
1. Not sold locally or commonly available in many sizes
2. Ones I found are not available in all sizes to cover what we print
3. They are more expensive than regular boxes
4. They weigh more than a padded mailer which is all that is needed for many small, flat parts
5. It is good for the planet to be “green” and recycle !
6. Certain USPS and FedEx shipping classes REQUIRE you to use USPS or FedEx branded packaging (Priority Mail Flat Rate and FedEx Envelope, for instance.)
Where are you guys buying your “brown, tab locking boxes” ?
I am in USA and the selection is very limited and the price is prohibitive.
I think that if 3D Hubs is so keen on us all using the same type of hard-to-get shipping box, that they should supply them to us.
What does everyone else think?
