If I buy an expensive printer for my current project, where is the best place to resell once my project is done?

Hey there @CaptainBisquick. Really depends on the printer. Some depreciate like a stone, some just like a brick. If you work on the basis of getting 50% back, you’ll be on the safe side. eBay’s a pretty good choice but, far as I know there’s no online market specifically for used 3D printers. May be an opportunity for an entrepreneurial fellow there. You can advertise it here and I’m sure if it’s a good printer you’ll sell it quickly but you won’t be likely to get more for it than it’s worth. Do you have a specific printer in mind?

Cheers!

Hey Andy, thanks for the input! @CaptainBisquick might refer to these 2, from one of his earlier posts today: Talk Manufacturing | Hubs

What do you mean buy expensive? For some a maker bot z18 is expensive for others a Stratasys connex 500 is expensive. But one is around $7000 the other around $200000.

…neither of which are the kind of printer a beginner is likely to choose, @Primodel. I imagine @CaptainBisquick is referring to a printer in the $1-2,000 mark. Which is a sum I’d regard as a lot of money for most people.

Cheers,
