Hi, Thinking of buying an UM2 and was wondering what others have found to be necessary / desirable upgrades / modifications e.g. Aluminum build plate, Olsson Block etc… I note that Dynamism is selling an “Extrusion upgrade kit” for $395 has anyone done this ?? Thanks

I’ve done the extrusion upgrade. It’s a bit pricey, but I’m very very happy with the upgrades. If your buying a used UM2 I would recommend it if your getting a good deal on the printer. Otherwise, just buy new. Cheers

Mine is “stock” minus:

Olsson Block

custom PTFE (teflon) insulator for the Olsson block (message me if your interested in one, it helps a LOT)

custom 3D printed fan shroud for the Olsson Block

BuildTak for the build bed, it is pricy as heck but works.

Those are the only upgrades on my machine. The rest is 100% stock and honestly it works good that way.

I have my ultimaker 2 with Olssonblock, its absolutely mandatory.

I wont buy the complete Head upgrade kit before all my nozzles are worn out or the printer itself begins to print bad overall.

Way too high price for just another head that aint broken.

Now if I can just the problem of the filament twisting on the reel and jamming the printer… I have read that it’s caused by the filament getting loose on the reel and the reel spinning too easily… anyone come up with a good solution ?
