I am looking in the $1200.00 range so far I am looking at a lulzbot mini this will be for representing models that will eventually be machined. I need something dependable simple and that can be off for periods of time possible months. I am open to all machines just so far the lulzbot mini looks like a possible fit.

@Printer9, you can check out our 2017 3D Printer Guide to read about the most reviewed 3D printers on our platform by owners themselves. You can also go through our Printer Index to compare printers by price and reviews.
I have a Lulzbot Mini and two Taz 5’s. The Mini has been extremely reliable, i use it for most prints since it is next to my desk. You will want to get a raspberry pi and load it with Octoprint, that way your pc isnt tied up when printing.
The Lulzbot tech support is good too, they respond quickly and even provide a phone number to just call them and speak to a person.
I have had great results printing miniatures using esun pla pro. some examples are here Thingiverse - Digital Designs for Physical Objects

Thank you this is what I wanted to hear I am leaning towards either the lulzbot mini or a makergear m2 they both look good the mini has a better price but the build size of the m2 may open it up to other uses for my shop.

The Makergear M2 is a fantastic printer. Very reliable - as is the Lulzbot mini. The quality of the M2 is hard to beat, but the M2 is a little out of your price range.
Since you’re talking about leaving it unused at times, you might want to look into something that is more enclosed. Keep the dust out and away from the grease on the Z screws. Either that or you will have to clean and re-grease after leaving it a couple of months.
Whatever I end up buying I will make sure it either has an enclosure or I will make one for the reason of dust and dirt. This is going to be one of two printers I will have this one will be for representation of parts basically a throw away sample and the other will work along my equipment in the shop.

For $1200, you should definitely consider the Prusa i3 MK2.
It’s a great starter printer and made easy to use. You can buy a kit or get it assembled.
