Hi everybody!

I just started 3D printing and i’ve just started looking into buying filament for my Makerbot Replicator Printer. I was curious, how do most people here figure out what filament to buy? I’ve gone on amazon and different websites such as matterhackers, protopasta, makerbot and colorfabb, but it seems like there are just so many out there. I guess my question really is how do you figure out which filaments are good and what criteria go into making a filament good for you?

I’m new at this too but a good place to start learning about filaments is from https://www.youtube.com/user/ThomasSanladerer. He’s done quite a few videos about different filaments to help educate new users. Good luck with your new endeavor.

There are so many filaments available. However, you would probably want to start out with PLA which is easy to print. There are so many brands as well its probably best to shop around and try a few. I would recommend www.3dexfilament.co.uk and hobbyking filament - these are two of the best I have tried
