The problem,

When I start the print either through USB or through Memory card the printer goes to x and y end stop fine, then it becomes very slow I mean really really slow, its takes ages to complete one step, then, works fine for about few minutes pausing in between then repeats this process randomly.

Although all the motors and everything else seems to works fine when not printing, for eg. pre printing routine like auto level, manual moving, extruding etc. But its only when starts printing this is the problem I am facing. I have no idea what causing this so will appreciate any help.

Two questions:

1. What slicing software are you using?

2. What is the FR percentage on your printer? I have no idea what ‘FR’ is supposed to stand for, but it affects the speed at which your printer will run a line of gcode. It should be set to 100% if you want the print run at the speed you have set in your slicing software. If you have changed that to a very low value by accident (as I have done in the past) you can get the result you are seeing.

Hi PeteD,

Thanks for the reply, FR stands for flow rate or feed rate I guess. But FR isnt the problem as I have used some previous gcodes which were fine to print before but they have still the same problem.

Maneesh.

The FR setting I am asking about is a setting on your printer and independent from the gcode in any file, so even if you have run the same file just fine in the past, if the FR setting is wrong, then the printer can run extremely slow.

well in that case I am not sure either what FR might be or how this can be changed. Do you have any idea where it is in settings. I looked into all the setting in the printer couldn’t find anything saying FR, could it be called by something else?

Attached is a picture of the default status display on one of my printers. Circled in red is the FR setting. This can be changed simply by turning the knob while on the status page, and thus is very easy to change accidentally. I don’t know if that is true for your printer, and you will have to play around with it to find out. I have several printers that have different formats for the status display, but all of them will default to changing the FR percentage when the knob is turned while on the status display.

Seeing for the image I am quite sure not that it stands for feed rate. I use this to change the print speed for first layers to stick them properly. I checked the settings and this isn’t the issue. As the printer prints fine in-between and then pauses or slow down and this problem only happens when it is about to start printing. After lots of fiddling I am upto a conclusion that something wrong with my firmware or the electronics board.
