I was printing this part that was sliced using Craftware. I was using a 20% infill. According to this picture:

it should have perfectly even squares. But when I’m printing it, it turns out like this:

Is this some issue with retraction, or Craftware?

Thanks,

Hey there,

The additional lines are probably just that your printer isn’t retracting when crossing over the infill, so it’s oozing out a little. Since it won’t be visible once the part is finished (the top layers will hide it), many slicers do this.

So just to clarify, there is nothing wrong with my retraction or temperature settings. Its just that most slicers don’t tell printers to retract after infill?

Basically, yeah. The slicer knows that the infill will be covered up and any unsightly strings won’t be seen there anyhow, so it doesn’t retract. In some slicers, like Simplify 3D, you can decide where or not to retract in this case, but I’m not familiar with Craftware. Either way, it shouldn’t affect your final piece

I also noticed that the infill is not extending to where it should end. If you look at each square, it ends like 1-2 mm before the perpendicular wall. What is up with that?
