Hi everyone,

I received a brand new TAZ 5 some weeks ago, and I’m pretty newbie on printing on this machine with PLA (I have quite a lot of experience with others, like the Zortrax M200 and ABS)

I was printing Marvin for my first order, and what I got is like in the picture attached !!! §§§§ !!!

Pretty amazing, some prints were ok, others were squeezed on the z axis, so the sphere was not a sphere but an ellypse.

It was quite a headacke, but I finnally found out the reason. The filament reel was too big (too wide) for the machine support, and it was not unrolling properly, so the filament was too tight and the printing head was not beeing properly fed!!!

Just in case this can serve others !!!

See you !

That would not be a result of not enough feed, if that were the case the shape would be correct, but full of holes. The squishing looks like the Z - axis was not moving properly, which could either be a g-code issue or mechanical. So the issue went away when you swapped the roll out?

What you say is logic, but my experience has shown that changing the filament reel position (out of the support) and nothing else, the print resoult is perfect… I was surprised too… maybe someone with a knowledge on slicer programming may put some light on this issue…
