Hi guys
i have recently entered the world of 3d printing by buying a wanhao i3 plus printer, i have it all hooked up and setup but i seem to have a problem. when i try to move the z axis up one side moves but the other doesnt, it is like one of the rods is stuck? has anyone else encounted this and if possible provide a solution to this problem…
Many Thanks
Ed
Have you checked the connection of the wires to the motor that does not turn? You can check if the rod is stuck by spinning the rod by hand (make sure the printer is off or the steppers are disabled). If the rod is stuck you will also hear a click when the motor tries and fails to turn
My money would be on a loose connection, make sure it is clipped in fully.

With your printer turned off or at least “steppers disabled” setting (build plate and X axis should move freely) try rotating the Z couplings by hand. Likely when you move one, the other one will try to rotate too because your generating voltage to the other side. If it doesn’t turn, look at the Z screw rods. Should be difficult to spot where things are binding up. My guess though is either a broken wire in the connector to the dead Z motor or a loose Allen screw in the coupler on top of the Z motor

Hi,
Maybe a screw is not well tightened on the z axis. Does the motor turn ?
