Hi Guys. First of all, Im new to 3d printing. I took over a Wanhao S4 from someone who bought it and hardly used it. I did a few prints but it was not very succesful. I red on some sites that it has to be tweaked to get good prints but I dont know what these tweaks are. Is it just software or hardware aswell? I would be greatful if you guys could give me some settings to get better prints. I know it would take some time to get to know the in’s and out’s, but would like to get better results. I have Replicator G wich it came with but don’t know how good it is. I work with Fusion 360 and have played with Print Studio aswell. I like it, but the only problem I have with it is that as soon as I start printing the bed cools down. I also downloaded Slic3r but dont know the correct settings for my printer.

Wich of these programs would you suggest and also what tweak settings for it. Her I have a helmet I tried to print. I dont think it’s the file because I tried some other files aswell.

Just another question… I red about calibration but also dont know how it’s done.

Please guys I need help.

Thanks in advance.

Arthur

Google it. I found a lot of help just on various websites, and this one is kind of a general troubleshooting website:

From the picture, it looks to me like your layer heights are right, but the heating/cooling or temperature settings are off.

Hope it goes well.

Start with small, 10mm or 20mm cubes at 100% infill. Mess with the settings until you get a good looking print. Not convex or concave on top, filled in well, etc. In the sailfish firmware manual there are some suggestions.

Then go from there messing with temp, speed, and extrusion multiplier.

Dont try to do this while printing really big models. It will take you forever to get dialed in.

Thanks Perry for the reply. Every tip helps to get there.

Kind regards

Hi Joe. I printed the same model in different software and it looked like it the shape changes. I did scale it to different sizes. And also in some prints it looked like the extruder did not stop when it should. in other areas it gave me some gaps.
