Hello Guy,
I just started printing with ABS and I am having what seems to me like adhesion issues. Whatever I try to print it comes out looking like in the picture.
I am using:
Anet A8 printer
1.75mm green ABS
0.4mm noozle
110 degres bed and 210 degres extruder
0.1mm layer and 0.4mm first layer
Heatbet with painters tape on it for adhesion.
Thanks to all for your help!
I’d go hotter on the extrusion, maybe around 230 to start. Layer heights seem not good. Go with a .2 layer overall and probably for the first layer also. What slicer?
Hello Philippe, I agree with what wirlybird said, with a few extra questions/comments. Do you have any cooling fans running on your print? Is your printer inside some sort of enclosure? A cooling fan running on your print closer than ~2mm to the bed, especially if not in a heated enclosure, will probably kill your first layer adhesion. Also, sometimes blue painter’s tape isn’t enough. People will use wood glue, hairspray, or an ABS slurry to help the first layer stick.
Thanks for your answers guys,
I’ll try bumbing up the temperature and using hairspray for adhesion. Curently, the fan is spinning about 25% of the time on the first layer but I’ll try turning it off. I was using cura but I just switched to slic3r.
