Hi,

I’m hoping someone can give me some help as I’ve exhausted all the things I could think of.

I have a Trium 3D printer (Delta) running Merlin software. It was working perfectly up until a week ago when it crashed in the middle of a print. Once I’d got all the filament cleaned and came to use the printer again it had a very strange problem.

I zeroed all the axis and the z-axis and x-axis work fine, but the y-axis has a problem that it traverses the bed at an incline, i.e. if I lower the z-axis to about 10mm of the bed, moving the x-axis across is ok, remains 10mm, but moving the y-axis the head drops to about 5 mm at the front and rises to about 15 mm at the back. The real confusing thing is that if I raise the x-axis to around 300mm and do the same thing there either is no effect on the y-axis or its extremely small.

Does anyone have any thoughts on where I should look?

P.S. I’m suing S3D, but the problem exists in Repetier as well, both set up for Delta printers.

Many thanks
Dave

Hi All,

Ok, found the problem, it was a loose gear on the stepper motor, friction at higher Z values was less that the friction of the gear, but at lower z values when the friction of moving the axis over greater distances was high, it slipped, but almost perfectly every time the same way!.

Thanks
Dave

I’m glad you were able to solve this! What a tricky issue
