I have been receiving the following messages after trying quite a few repairs.
Turn on machine: Sailfish Creator Pro – Heater Special – ATmega 2560 16/07/05 Sailfish v7.8 r0f02f
That message flashes for just a second then second message:
Tool 0 Failure! Temperature reads are failing. Check wiring.
Then normal screen appears:
FF Creator Pro
-Print from SD
Preheat
Utilities
When I choose utilities, then load filament, I get this message:
My temperature was changed externally. Reselect filament menu to try again.
Repairs I have made:
1. Replaced thermocouple - no change
2. Replaced heating cartridge - no change
3. Replaced entire extruder set - no change
Has anyone ever had this problem? Does anyone have any ideas?
UPDATE: Flashforge sent me a new motherboard for my machine. I very carefully (labelling everything, taking notes, taking pictures) took everything apart and installed the new motherboard.
Of course, with my luck, I turn the printer on and the LCD screen does not come on at all! I have turned the printer over and checked every connection three times now. Still nothing. About to throw it out the window!!!
Any help out there??? Please!!! I am desperate!!!
I know it seems an obvious thing to do but recheck all connections on the board are tight and ok. Also check that no wires are pinched or grounding out.
Has the firmware been altered?
I did try to update the firmware, but I thought I was unsuccessful, however, it may have updated? Could it be a wire other than one connected to the extruded assembly, because I have been pretty much been concentrating on those connections. I do know that the one thing that does work is, the bed heats up.
How did you try to update the firmware? If unsuccessful or the wrong version, both could cause an issue.
The FFCP doesn’t use the “vanilla” version of Sailfish. It uses its own version so updating should be done via Flashprint.
Updating to another version may indeed mean settings need to be changed for it to properly recognize the equipment.
Yes, I tried to do it using Flashprint. The problem was, Flashprint did not recognize that I even had a printer connected. It kept saying no machine connected. I checked the usb on the computer and it was fine, but even when I went into my feile explorer, it did not recognize that I was connected to anything.
Ok, first in Flashprint make sure that Creator Pro is selected as the printer type/model.
If the driver installed ok which it should have using flashprint then a COM port is created when the printer is plugged in (powered on) via USB, check in device manager for a COM that is called something odd like blabla serial driver …, could be COM three or higher depending.
You can plug in the printer and see if a new COM is created while it is plugged in and power on. Also, use USB2 rather than USB3 port and a 10 foot or less cable and no hubs or extensions.
Flashprint then needs to be set to the same COM port number and creator pro selected as printer type.
No other indication of the printer will be present most likely.
