This weekend I am intending to print a model that will span my cars rear windscreen. The model has been split into 10 connecting parts, below is a link to a typical section.

How can I ensure that this model is printed succesfully as there are lots of hidden aspects, the slots model is approx. 10cm wide, each slot is 8mm wide and the horizontal slots under each slot is 1mm x 10mm

2015/02/15 I’ve learnt a lot through all the messed up prints and jams. Now my prints are spot on, the quality is excellent and very pleasing.

This is what I’ve learned:

Levelling the print base correctly. Using the supplied card, adjust the bed front right, front left and middle back so that the extruder is tight on the card, not so tight that you cannot more the card but tight enough that it is in contact and can be moved with friction. When the card is removed the extruder should NOT be in contact with the bed in any of the positions.

Use the 3M cover that came with the printer, but put paper tape on top of the print cover / bed. This makes removing the printed results very easy.

Use the correct temperatures for the materials you are printing with, this applies to both the bed and the extruders.
