3D printing has been branded as a way to reduce the impact we have on our environment. However, most of the time we’re all too much familiar with a pile of failed prints, that negatively affect the environment surrounding us.

Here at 3D Hubs we want to stop this waste and change the way we produce things.

Together with our awesome mayors @Jeffrey_1 in Breda, @Alexander_8 in Boston and @Charlotte @ in London we will open up the first three recycling Hubs on the planet! They will collect the failed prints of their community and turn the waste into brand new filament. Then, you’ll even be able to print orders with fully locally recycled filament!

Help us change how 3D prints are made and support a waste free future! You can show your support for this campaign by sharing the biggest 3D printing fails you’ve ever produced. Leave a picture of these monstrosities as a comment on this post or share your pic on social with #REMAKE3D before September 9th. The 3 hubs with the most popular pics will receive a fully recycled spool of filament produced by Refil.

What to share? A picture of your failed print!

We can’t wait to see what the world of recycling has to offer. Make sure to gather your fellow hubs to join and maybe your community will even be asked to host the next recycling hub soon!

If you got all excited and happy about this and you’re looking to start recycling yourself, have a look at this Perk we offer if you’re a Hub on the platform!

So glad to hear you’re taking this initiative on! I’m fully supporting and following this post. On a similar note, in San Francisco we’re holding a 3D Printing Upcycling/Product Manipulation event and will keep you all in mind during our presentation.

Can we just upload our box of failed prints? Our printers have been getting more reliable, but we still have all of the old stuff and plan to recycle it when we can get a hold of a filastruder or similar.

As long as we’re talking failed prints, we should be good  Share away!

Hey, so cool to see you back around here! Enthusiastic as always

You should, you really should

Let’s #REMAKE3D that bin of yours

Support for you.It is indeed a problem for the failed ones in printing.

Thanks  yep, but let’s start to reduce the size of the waste bin!

I actually have a running Flickr album of failed prints - 3D Print Failures | Flickr

Note that as I get braver and braver, the fails get bigger and bigger. The latest being a garbage can full of failed parts of a Fallout 4 mask. Fortunately my son was able to use some of the pieces as supplementary props for the costume.
