We’ve all been there: you want to buy a 3D printer, but there’s a plethora of options out there, with different variations in price, build volume, printing time and so on. Most of you here on Talk must’ve noticed by now the frequency of posts coming from people who try to decide among various printers, based on desired criteria.

Fret no more! Today we’re releasing the 2016 3D Printer Guide, with reviews from you, our awesome community. This basically translates in over 5,350 verified 3D Printer owners with a collective 3962 years of 3D Printing experience coupled with 714,300 prints completed on 441 different 3D Printer models. Impressive, right?

We also put together this cool decision tree, which should come in handy when deciding among these 5 3D printer categories: Enthusiast, Plug’n’Play, Budget, Kit/ DIY, and Resin.

This week we’ll tackle each 3D printer category individually, so feel free to stick around if you have any feedback, comments or questions for any particular one.

That’s all! Time to Talk among yourselves now

So how do you feel about this year’s results?

I’m pleased to see that the UP BOX got the best rating in “plug n play” even if it only got 6 reviews! Will be interesting to see how it does next year when there are more users.

looks like the UP BOX will be a serious contenter for next year! I have to admit it is a very good looking printer! Where you one of six reviewer @Steelmans?

Yes, it is an awesome bit of kit and once the software is improved further is will be a real contender.

I love the flow chart and I believe that is the best way to lead people to the right choices! I read the MAKE Magazine review and even though the Zortrax had the highest scores in several categories, a heavy bias toward open source printers was evident in their write-up. They used a lot of negative language in the Zortrax write-up which caused me to lose trust in their ability to judge fairly.

Congrats on a well thought out and objective review! Its good to see there’s someone giving MAKE a run for their money and hopefully this kind of objectivity will keep them more accountable in future reviews.
