I’m sure many of you have already faced that moment where you don’t really know if one of your printer’s part is failing.

For example when our Ultimaker original went down - our nozzle got burnt - and we weren’t sure what parts actually needed to be replaced so @Linda_Zouad tried to test the printer’s thermocouple with the material we had which was just an Arduino used as a Multimeter, It wasn’t the easiest way to do that , but with what we had it worked out!

maybe you guys can share some tips on how to do this easily on your printers?

A good starting point when your prints are failing:

Well if the thermocouple reads 20C on power up then it’s probably fine. And if you heat up the head and the temperature starts increasing then that is also a good sign that it is working. You could put the thermocouple in a plastic bag and push that into boiling water and it should read around 90 to 100C.

I just replace the questioned part so I can find out if it’s really faulty.
