I have a MP Mini and bought the blue ABS filament to use with it but it will not feed through. I know the printer works because it printed a couple things already. This filament is the same kind the MP company makes. It should be compatible. Any suggestions? Thanks. N.Y.

Some things to check for.

1. Replace the extruder tip.

2. Make sure that the feeder gear is clean and no clogs.

3. Make sure the wires are sung in the stepper/extruder.

4. I under stand that the filament that mono price makes “should” work with the printer that they make.

I have been down this road of buying cheap filament and it never works out. Its a hit or a miss if it will work well

and it take too much experimenting to get it right, and when you have the formula down the spool is almost empty.

I would highly suggest that you use brand name filament like Hatch Box (personal favorite).

cheers!

Thank you. But does that filament actually work, and I want to try,so what temp should the extruder and print bed be?

Hatch Box filament is great because it is just as expensive as another brand. (about $20)

I don’t use an enclosure for my printer.

Stats:

ABS

Kaptop take with a Elmers glue stick.

Bed temp is 100C

Exturder temp is 230-235C.

PLA

Blue tape

no heated bed

Extruder is 200-210C

Is that the same for the Monoprice blue ABS filament? That is what I am trying to do.

P.S. This filament was not cheap. It cost 25 dollars and I can’t even use it on this printer, yet it works fine on my M3d printer. Can you also tell me what temp it should be on this one as well?

Check the filament diameter. What is the printer supposed to have? 1.75 or 3 and see if the filament you got is correct there.

The MP Mini bed only goes up to about 77 deg. If you have a large raft or base it will warp. The MP Mini is designed for PLA only.

Ok,I am getting the white Monoprice filament today for the MP printer. In order to ensure success that I don’t have to sent it AND printer back, what temp should the printer b at? Do I put the stuff in after printer heats to temp? How do I know if it is hot enough/ Does this filament even work with its OWN printer?

Thank you,

N.Y.

for PLA, I use 190 C & bed at 50 C. Works beautifully. Save the geocode to the miniSD card and hit the preheat then fire it up. The printer will delay the start printer until the temps get right. I just got my printer a few weeks back and it has been running non-stop for the past few days now that I’ve worked the kinks out. A lot to learn but once you get the hang of it, it is very addicting. I’m now printing for the first time at the 2x speed and it seams to be doing very well. Making hoverboard handles for my kids.

When it gets to temp then put the filament in?

no. Feed the filament in and then run it. Push it all the way in until it stops.

Got it. Thank you.

O how will I know if it’s hot enough? Will the filament come out by itself or do I have to keep turning the wheel?

Hello?

The hotend will be hot enough when the filament comes out smooth and fluid. Its not hot enough if it clicks or comes out of the tip at an angle or looks chunky

So I don’t have to turn the wheel then?

Do I still have to turn the wheel or wait till it comes out by itself?

OK, I think it was clogged because now,the filament is coming out fantastically now. Thank you guys who answered me for your help. In return,I will now tell you how I unclogged the nozzle,if you’re interested. I took a straight pin and moved it around very gently inside it a couple times, then used a plastic card to wipe the nozzle out. Then did it again with some tape stuck to it. Turned it back on,heated it up and voila! It is now printing out the cat! After this, how do I print out other stuff? Just tell it to print or what? Again, thank you very much!

This sux!! Now,I just got the new filament & it’s not extruding at all!:(:frowning:
