Hello everyone,

A year or so ago I bought a large DIY tech shop 12x12x14 inch build area ‘Iron’ printer (see pic). I put an awful lot of time and money into it and it worked for a short while and then broke (arduino maybe) and I had to move out of my factory space and ever since I haven’t had the emotional energy to fix it. Since then I have been outsourcing my print jobs, but it would be super handy to use this one for my jobs (1 or so a week).

So… If you have a place to put it, and are technical enough to look into the issue, you can print with it to your hearts content as long as I can print some files from time to time.

As for specs/ inclusions:

Heated bed

LCD screen - working

Power source

Various filaments

I am based around Sydney University, so the closer to here the better.

Cheers,

J.

Hi jeremy,

I would love to take this project and see whether I can get it up and running. I am not sure I can guarantee to help you print a lot on it but I can offer some free printing on my Up Mini and I also can advise on some CNC capabilities if you have a need. I work professionally as a design engineer and have my own prototyping business so am not sure what you are looking for exactly and probably can’t respond rapidly if you are looking for a direct trade for services. Anyway, I would love to give this a go.

HI Jeremy,

I’m pretty sure I could fix this and get it up and running, i would definitely change a few things in it to get it fixed, if you like i can help you fix it, in the meantime if you want anything printed hit me up and I’ll do it for free, you can buy the plastic and pay for that only if you like, i am out west but can ship at your cost or you can pick it up, i do sometimes head over that way (weekends) if you’re keen i’m keen to help this community grow.

Hit me up via message and we can exchange details.

Adam.

Hi Matt and Adam,

Thanks for your responses! To be more specific, I print moulds and cores for bicycle parts which are then reinforced or completely replaced with carbon fibre/ epoxy - some of the parts can be found here: Facebook.

The parts can often be fairly big (think of small bicycle forks), hence why I was after a big printer.

Please let me know if it would still interest you!

Cheers,

Jeremy.

Hi Jeremy,

What a great project. I don’t think that I can offer enough time to you to do it justice. But…

I have my own prototyping business (www.hucksonengineering.com) which I sometimes have capability to do some outside projects. I am also a full time engineer working for a design consultancy (Inner West Sydney), hence the lack of time  . If you don’t find a suitable home for your machine, they may have space and there are a whole load of people there who may be interested in a fix-up project!

My business 3d printer is only small judging by your parts, but I do have lathe and also 3/4 axis CNC which may suit you. Get in touch some time if you have a need.
