Hello

got the printer some days ago. It works as expected when USB connected. But I want to place the printer some meters away and use the WLAN connection. I can arrange the connection and can talk to the printer. But after switching off the printer, all WLAN connection data are lost.

How can I store the WLAN SSID and password in the da Vinci Mini w? What I’m doing wrong? Can not find how to store the connection data

Current printing software is XYZware-2.1.16.4.exe

Thanks for any hint

Heinz

Hi Heinz,

I have the exact same problem. No problems over USB, but the WIFI settings are lost once I turn off the printer. XYZ customer service was absolutely no help. Did you ever find a solution? Thanks!

Steve

Hi Steve,

WLAN is simply not working, yet. I got the answer from the manufacturer that there will be a future firmware update. The first update I got did not solve the WLAN problem. I can live with the USB connection so far.

Which 3D design software do you use?

Heinz

Hi Heinz,

Thanks for letting me know. XYZ customer service should be as helpful. USB works fine for me as well, it would just be nice to take advantage of the WiFi.

I work mostly in ZBrush and Maya. I have been experimenting with prints off of Thingiverse to get used to the Mini and how it works. In terms of slicers, I have also played with Simplify3D and Meshmixer in addition to XYZWare. I sort of go back and forth to see which gives me the best results. How about you?

Hi Steve,

I recently got a XYZ Da Vinci Mini W and I can’t get how to use it with Simplify3D (I use a cracked version so far, if it gives good results I consider buying it… but for the price, I want to be sure it’s worth it).

Did you manage to print something with S3D ?

I can import my model, slice it, send it to the printer… and then the printer enters an Error mode (red LED and a couple of beeps).

Do you have any advice ?

Btw, I also have the same WIFI issues… and it even won’t work with my home router, only through my phone’s hotspot…

Thanks in advance !

Quentin

Hi Quentin,

I have printed using Simplify3D many times. I had error problems when I started as well. This is what I suggest:

First, make sure you have downloaded the profile for the Mini W and are using that. I have tweaked that a bit, but you will need that profile to start.

What I first tried printing, I got an error message, but I noticed if I hit the print button twice it would print. Simplify3D was not connecting to the printer. This is what I do now:

When I am ready to print, I first click on the Machine Control Panel (it’s the little gear button on the toolbar on the right)

Once the dialog box opens, click on Connect and wait for the software to connect to the printer.

Close the dialog box

Click on Prepare to Print

Click on Begin Printing Over USB.

I could never get the wifi settings to save. A tech at XYZ told me that was a feature of the printer (that you had to enter the WIFI settings every time). I told him (politely) how silly that was.

Hope this helps. Let me know.

Best,

Steve

Is this problem corrected or is still the same?
