Hi everyone, I am new to 3dhubs. I need to print some small scale objects - basic geometry with some screw rails. The only printer I know up to the task is Envisiontec (I don’t know much about 3D printers) but that has just became not available and it seems like it’s going to take a long time.

I have been browsing 3dhubs and the only familiar names to me like Ultimaker and Makerbot will not give me the detail I want.

Could anyone suggest a 3D printer that can print small scale objects with fine detail.

Thank you.

Can you upload an example of what you define as “small object”. What are the measurements and what tolerances do you need ?

The example I attached is a screw model. very small 4x4x4mm. As of “tolerances” I have no clue.
screw1.stl (7.72 MB)

This screw is very small, especially the thread is so low in profile, that noone will see the thread when it’s printed with a FDM machine.

I don’t know, if the Form 1+ would be capable of this. the only other way would be to scale this up, enlarge the thread or get it made in a high end industrial CNC machine that can create such small details.

May i ask, why you need such a tiny screw with such a tiny thread? a 1mm deep thread (or at least 0,5mm) would be printable.

Sorry it was a bad example. As well as learning 3D printing I am also learning 3D designing

What printer would you recommend if I was to decrease the number of threads, besides Form1+. As i mentioned earlier I was told that Envisiontec would have been capable but then again I won’t have access to it for some time and I did not see Envisiontec in the forum.

I am basically learning 3D designing on Rhino and trying to design and print things I come up online and the screw was one of them.

Thank you.

I don’t konw anything about the Envisiontec 3d printer. The problem with the screw is not, that there are too many threads (too many turns of the screw profile), but the problem is, that the “teeth” are too short, they do not point as far out as they have to be for 3d printing. The Form1+ is the only famous and common SLA printer that i know of, and the only one, that i’ve seen reviews and test parts from. Upload other designs if you want and i’ll tell you if you can improove the model.

Hi Mustafa

If you have a good stl file, I could give it a go for you on the Perfactory!
