I’m not quite sure how to describe this, so forgive me if the description doesn’t make sense. Hopefully the pictures will make it clear.

Sometimes when I have an interior wall, I get this horrible surface quality next to it. I know exactly what’s causing it: Printing a partial solid layer across low infill. If I print a solid layer before the partial solid layer, it’s perfect. What I don’t know is which settings will make this stop. Simplify3D has an option to print a solid layer every N layers, but that doesn’t work if I have a lot of different layers.

I think you need to find the right balance of Top Solid Layers, Primary Layer Height, and Interior Fill Percentage.

I’d print at least 3 top layers if you are printing at a layer height of 0.20 or less with 20% infill. Less infill and you need to up your top layers and/or layer heights. I hope that makes sense.

You could also try tweaking the Infill Angle Offsets to be sure the infill isn’t running parallel to the top layer print direction. Use the preview just like you posted to inspect this before printing.

The above was printed at 0.2mm, 20% infill, and 3 solid top layers. I increased it to 5 top layers and it came out much better.

Looks good
