Hi guys, how are you keeping your Type A Machines 3D printers busy?

Anything worthy of a show’n’tell here on Talk? Marvin would be a nice start

Cheers

Yeh, I’d love to seem some cool prints from the Type A Machines owners. Especially where you’re utilizing those larger build plates and speedy print settings. @gabriela3d what would you print on a Type A if you had one?

@TypeAMachines what would you like to see printed?

Well, I’d definitely use it to finish my 3D printed plant pots project I started here at the office. I really love the Marvin pot that @Daan_3D made, so I’d make more friends for it. Grow-bot would do the trick too: Grow-bot by Noodles - Thingiverse

How about you @toymaker2?

That’s so cool!

Nice one @Daan_3D, where did you get inspiration for that awesome Potted Marvin?

Ok, so you know I have a dinosaur thing, which means I’d be printing these Dinosaur Hooks from Thingiverse.

I do pop-up shops to raise money for a choice cause(usually, a local project on donorschoose, or Mental Health Association) on a occasion. Usually I don’t hear about an opportunity, until way late and I don’t like to keep massive inventory either. So I can produce large batches in a couple days, because of how tall and narrow the extruder is I can easily print 4 medium size ones in one go while I’m at work. I use Simplify3d to print 1 at a time to reduce Errorgeddon.

My biggest project was a starlord mask for halloween. It ended up being a failure at 50 hour print. I’ve since improved my settings. However there are some shortcoming of Type A that are hard to work around. because of the large surface area, there is a very small bowing that happens. So things that are perfectly calibrated in the center will have the hot end smash into the build plate on the edges. I have to calibrate the gcode to compensate usually.

Also, because of no heated bed(there is an upgrade coming out soon). Large objects have a really high chance of lifting. All the glue in the world can’t stop it if it’s large enough. So I frequently print with a brim.

The Type A is also fairly loud compared to my Ultimaker, and I keep both in the room right next to my bedroom. The Ultimaker is the only one I can print overnight comfortably, so most my print project don’t exceed 16 hours.

But this question has inspired me to print something enormous. I feel like I haven’t maxed out it’s full potential just yet. I remixed the pencil monster, so maybe I’ll print out a huge one for funsies.

Hey @, thanks for sharing your printing projects! Did you design the Monster Planters? They are super cool. Yes, do max out your space. It’s really an advantage you don’t appreciate until you don’t have it, well that’s just me.

I’m so excited to see a huge pencil monster - do you know what you’re going to use if for? We wondering whether it would be large enough for an umbrella.

Hey @nino, I know your project from Talk, it’s really impressive and so inspiring for the community. Are you showing your buildings somewhere? Is there anywhere that people can see them?

Now that Talk allows Youtube embeds, you should share your video as a separate post. It certainly deserves showing. Cheers and happy printing!
