I am using Cura 2.3.1 on a select mini and having problems with retraction/ oozing. I have tried changing the retraction and retraction prime settings and it makes no difference.
I have printed this 5x with 5 different settings and the outcomes appear identical.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

What material and what nozzle temp?
Retraction speed is sometimes more important than distance. You’re looking to create negative pressure rather than actually removing the filament. What is your retraction speed set to?
Retraction speed I have tried from 35 to 70(max) mm/sec
Using mono price PLA and have tried from 190 to 205C
And I have tried 4 - 8mm retraction and retraction prime from .1 to 1

What speed are you printing at, and have you checked your extruder gear to make sure that it is clean?
Nevermind, others beat me to it…
I’ve read about people using 100ms/s, but I’ve never needed to go that high. Try adding some z-hop?

Any way you could provide a clearer picture. It looks like there’s more going on here than stringing. Is the model fairly clean aside from the strings or is there a fair amount of deformation/globbing as well?

The stringing is very thick near the base where they are closer together and form a wall. Nearer the top, they are a thick spider web that can be crushed. It appears to be fairly clean otherwise
Printed at 60 & 100 same effect. Pulled the extruded head apart and cleaned the nozzle with piano wire to make sure there is no blockage
Though, just noticed that extruded feed is only feeding. I don’t see it reversing at all. That could be the problem. There is no retraction although it is indicated on the Cura screen. Now how to fix/ troubleshoot that?

I think that the problem may be that the arm on your extruder arm is cracked and therefore not feeding correctly. I had this problem with mine. Monoprice should have included an extra arm with the printer in the box. Also can you see / hear the motor spinning backwards when retraction is happening? Also try not to print at any speed above 60 mm/s because if you do your prints will not come out clean at all.

This print does not look good at all. You likely have more than just a retraction problem with your printer. What values do you have set for your nozzle width, extrusion multiplier and layer height?

Agreed. Make sure your filament diameter is set to 1.75, and flow rate is 100%. Might even want to turn down flow rate a hair.

Turned out to be the software. The 2.3.1 did not appear to be sending the changes in the code. Monoprice had me download 15.04.06 and had me adjust a few settings and problem solved! Thank you all for your input. It got me on the right track.
Would you mind telling me how exactly you fixed it. I think mine is going down the same path
Certainly, I downloaded CURA 15.04.06 replacing the other CURA then made these setting changes
