So how many people decided to go the DIY route? If you didn’t, what did you purchase and why? Just a little opening thread for the Jacksonville HUB.
I built a standard i3 Style printer and I’m working on my 2nd; a corexy build with a large z axis.

I had heard enough nightmare stories to want something turnkey on a budget. I doubted that was possible so I got a robo3dprinter. Though there have been problems their 1 on 1 support is amazing and 6 months later the printer has paid for itself.
Did you buy the kickstarter? I see it’s is a marlin based prusa style printer. Did it come pre calibrated? Have you needed/wanted to upgrade it any?
I bought the R1, the version after the kickstarter. It self calibrates with you being able to control the z offset. I haven’t upgraded any of the hardware, although octopi and duel extruders are on the horizon. I have switched from matterslicer (they’re default software) to repetier and that was a HUGE upgrade. I dont know what was up with my combination of computer/printer/matterslicer but that was just garbage.
I have had to replace the fan, heated bed, and a couple other components because of malfunctions but its all been under warranty and has been painless, they even printed a customers parts for me while my printer was down.
Wow thats nice of them, I currently use simplify3d for my slicer, I started with repetier, switching back and forth between cura and slic3r can show you just how important a good slicer is. I currently use a netbook with Linux to run Repetier Server, but they just went pay for features so I will break down and compile OctoPrint for it soon. I have the parts for dual extruders sitting here but I keep denying my printer them because I dont want to lose build area.
I have a re-flashed Davinci 1.0a and a Wanhao I3 R2…
