I’ve seen it previously posted that the fan on the CTC mainboard is not needed and is a relic of an older design. Is this the case? It’s so noisy and i’ll like to disconnect it, but obviously dont want anything to overheat.

When makerbot made the replicator 1, they had overheating issues so they added a fan. This made it into the motherboard design. Most manufacturers resolved the heat issue, but left the fan. It is probably not needed. I removed mine from all my FF pros.
