Good morning all, im new to 3D printing and have purchased a Prusa i3 Pro b remake.

Im using Cura 15.04.6 and Merlin firmware. Ive spent all weekend reading forums, changing settings and checking printer but can not get a good print. Can anyone help please?

One thing I noticed is that you are printing at a layer height of 60 micron (.06mm). If you are just starting/tuning, you should be dialing it in at around .200 mm, with calibration cubes and other calibrating prints. Looks to be to hot, either material temp is too high, or not enough cooling.

thanks, i will amend the layer height and try a calibration cube. P.S Im using PLA am i right in thinking the temp should be around 210 'c

Yes 210C isn’t too bad, it will vary from brand to brand. Do some tests, you normally want to use the lowest temp that gives you the best quality. The less heat you have in the extruded plastic the less heat you have to remove with cooling fans.

I would say slow down, more cooling. Maybe print 3 or 4 at the same time and see how they go. It’s not a complete mess so don’t get discouraged!

Make sure the belts are very tight.

I was using a basic version of Cura the first time but i updated it…

So to slow the print down i take it i should change “print_speed = 40”

Would you say my retraction settings are ok? are cant seem to work them out!!!

Thanks. after reading loads on the web I re-fitted all the belts so i could get full tension.

I can’t speak to Cura since I don’t use it.

Yes on speed, I printed Marvin at about 1000mm/min I think it was.

I think what I mainly see in the model is to much heat. Slowing down the layer speed and giving it time to cool between layers I think will help.

Marvin is hard! Too slow and the nozzle will add heat to the layers, to fast and the layer doesn’t have time to cool enough. This is why some suggest print more than one at a time to give a pause to each one to let it cool a bit before the next layer.
