Hi,

is there a possibility to overrule the change printhead instruction in 3Dprint.

I explain my problem that occurs many times. I have too print one of my Urns for a funeral on friday.

For the moment i have nothing else to print, and 3Dprint says replace printheads Cyan and magenta, both are on 12%,but every time when i do this ,i have to print the allignment separately,

because my model is 20cm in height, and when i print the urn(which is pure white with a picture on top) after the allignment, the first 20mm will turn out gray.

As far as I know, the alignment will purge the printheads (which are technically black). This should avoid any discoloration on the actual print. You can always skip base layers to save yourself material though in advance - however I don’t think there is any way to override the requirementnto change printheads…

Even after purge and alignment you can get gray layers but usually when changing clear head. Try cleaning service station and printhead spitons after alignment and before the print, maybe it will resolve gray layers issue.

On z650 you can print even if print-heads are long on 0%, so I guess they changed that to a worse at some point to make you burn some more material and heads…

Oh yeah…the rebranded 660s make you change everything before a print can start. Ink tanks could be at 70% and it’ll still require a new cartridge…

In my z510 I can force to purge new pritheads again, isn’t it possible with the 660?

I believe ZPrint 7.10 still allowed you to override and print anyway.

what version of ZPrint are you using?

I have 3DPrint 1.03, and was told not to use older versions with the 660, because not compatible anymore,

and would give bad prints and errors

Hey, quick, somewhat unrelated question… does anyone know why you need to use black cartridges why won’t any color work since the cartridges are purged of all ink anyway?

The color cartridges have a smaller droplet size.

Hi,

Although your urn is almost the height of the zbuild, you could first try printing the auto alignment chips by themselves, then clearing out the build and preparing your printer for the model run.

Many times during this process I will run what we call a ‘purge block’, which is essentially a small square roughly the same dimensions as your model in x and y, to assist in getting out the grey streaks. The point of this is to ensure that by the time the printer starts to build your model layers, the print heads will already be clear, ready to print in monochrome. You could print the purge block separately if it’s too close to the top of the build-it shouldn’t take long to print if you keep the z height low.

Best,

Helen

yes, for the cartriges and other consumables. However it does not prevent you from printing with worn out print heads. It just tells you “printer may not be ready”, but prints anyway.
