I am currently running a flashforge dreamer with simplify 3D. I am trying to get a part printed but for some reason after the extruder primes itself, it won’t print. Plastic comes out like the nozzle is clogged. I have checked and verified that this isn’t the case but I am getting very frustrated with these failures. What can I do to fix this problem?

what are your settings, and what material are you using. Anyway without any of those data’s, I have a tip that might help.

Preheat your extruder to 240C and Bed to 110C for ABS and 60C for PLA for 10 minutes before hitting print, this will make the filament really soft enough for the first layer print to go out smoothly.

This can be many issues. Can you add some screen shots of your S3D print profile settings? Temps, layer height, first layer height and speed, material, etc.

What do you mean by it “won’t print”, “plastic comes out like the nozzle is clogged”?? Do you mean partially clogged?

If you provide more details and maybe some pictures you will get more help.

Cheers.

Check the Teflon tubes. They get clogged and burnt.

Sounds almost like the part is trying to print above the platform, if this is not the case, it may be tiny pieces of filament in the drive gear. Is the filament extruding normally when you load it and clear the last filament out? is the problem occurring on both extruder heads?

My settings for Simplify 3D are the recommended settings for abs. Nozzle temp is 220, bed temp is 105. First layer height is .2mm. Speed is 4200mm/min. I have reason to believe it is a problem with the slicer because older models I saved will print fine. I have recently upgraded Simplify 3D to the most current version and it was after that that the problems occurred. Flashforge support sliced it for me and it printed without problems.

did you select the appropriate extruder to extrude from?

this usually happens when you preheat one extruder but select to print with the other… I did this a few times when I was starting

No, I have the correct extruder. It primes properly. Just can’t seem to print new files. Prints old ones just fine.

check your printer profile, you must select the correct printer.

Check again. There at least three areas in the S3D process settings where you make settings that affect each extruder independently, even if you’ve selected the correct one under “Auto-Configure Extruders”. Make sure you have also selected the right printer profile that matches your printer.
