Hey all,

I haven’t used my printrbot simple metal in about two months. Went to start it yesterday and the tip would heat up but when I went to home the machine it would not home and I got this readout:
< start
< echo:Marlin 1.0.0
< echo: Last Updated: Aug 7 2015 01:06:07 | Author: (j-laird, Printrbot firmware)

< echo:Advanced variables: S=Min feedrate (mm/s), T=Min travel feedrate (mm/s), B=minimum segment time (ms), X=maximum XY jerk (mm/s), Z=maximum Z jerk (mm/s), E=maximum E jerk (mm/s)
< echo: M205 S0.00 T0.00 B20000 X20.00 Z0.40 E5.00

< echo:Max position (mm):

< echo:Bed probe offset (mm):
< echo: M212 X25.00 Y0.00 Z-1.20
< echo:SD init fail

Any ideas why? I have changed computers, cables, and reflashed the board. I get a failure at 0x00002 when using ATFlip on the confirmation of firmware installation.

Thanks All!

It looks like your Slicing Software is out of date or erroring. Your Cura may need to be updated.

I tried both the 4.0.2 and 4.0.2.5 on two separate computers… I will try reinstalling again tonight at home and trying again though. However I do not think this is the issue as when I try to update firmware to the new “simple” or old “revF” hex files neither work all the way through and pass the verification check on Atmel FLip.

Thanks!

No Luck, Still having an “SD Init Fail” as shown on Ponterface

As an update, I heard from Printrbot Support. My board failed the blank check and they have deemed the board dead and in need of replacement. I have had this printer for less then a year and the board has already failed. I have asked for some discount or about a replacement program for boards as this is unacceptable. If you have the same issue, I wish you the best of luck…
