My Flashforge finder seems to need the skirt to get the nozzle flowing (though it does seem to do the obligatory line across the front of the build plate okay).

The problem is that the supports are outside the skirt, so don’t get the first layer.

Any suggestions?

A trick I commonly use is to add single-layer-thick rectangles under areas where support material is going to be printed. This helps give the support material something to stick to. I’ve had many failed prints because I had very tall support structures printed directly on the bed. Once I added the rectangles, I’ve had very few failures of the same kind.

Cheers - yes makes sense - finding more and more that I can’t rely on the slicer and have to do more prep in blender.

Hi,

can you upload a picture with an example?
