I am new to 3d printing, so the issue I am having may be newb related. The Start: The first printer, on the first day, died. Bad power supply, then something internally went wrong and it would not power up again. I have done the RMA amd have the new printer. The Issue: I used Tinkercad to make up a quick little object. Brought it into Cura. It was a small item requiring no support. During the brief printing I did on the first machine, using the sd card prints, when I loaded and started the design, the head would lower and the bed would move to the front left corner. Once the machine hit temp, it would start printing. When I load my design, everything heats up, but the head never lowers and the bed never moves. The Setup: Having never worked with Cura before, I downloaded and set it up using videos by John Biehler for the Mini. I also loaded the version that came on the sd card and had the same results. Am trying to remedy this issue before I even open the new printer.

What type of file did you load into the SD card first off? While Monoprice says it can print directly from STL or Obj, it usuially has a much harder time doing so. Because you used cura though, I assume you were able to convert it into G-code. Also check and make sure it’s not pushing in the build plate with pressure. At least with my maker select, it will stop if it detects that it is putting too much pressure on the build plate where it is hard to move.

Thank you for the reply. I saved the file out of Tinkercad as an stl file, then saved out of Cura as gcode. Pressure is not an issue, as the head is not moving down to the build plate at all. It just sits idle where ever it was when I hit start. The heat up settings are working from the gcode, because the hotend and bed do come up to proper temp. It all comes down to no physical movement by the machine to actually print. Its like it knows it is supposed to print something, but has no idea what.

It honestly sounds like something went wrong with the program itself. You can check this by looking at the G-code. If the Gcode looks like it’s going in a illegal location, it won’t start.
