Hi

Looking for some recommendations on a new printer for £2000 or under mark, id like in order of most importance:

Needs to be fairly quiet with enclosure

1.75mm filament

touch screen or on printer interface to set off jobs

dual extrusion (or would be happy with a really good single)

auto bed levelling or assisted

1.75mm filament

I’m thinking a Raise 3d N1 purely because of the dual extrusion unless someone has any other

recommendations?

The Cubicon style and Zortrax m200both look great, but from what I can tell on par print quality wise to the Raise which has dual.

Buy a Raise now, consider something else or wait to see whats out next year?

Dual extrusion is a waste of time with the advent of the Mosaic Pallete+ in combination with the N1/N2. The dual extruder also makes the head much heavier on the Raise and introduces ringing artifacts requiring you to print slower. The Raise and the Zortrax are both very good printers, and we make use of both in our printing service.

The Zortrax cannot do dual extrusion at all however, nor can it use the Mosaic Pallete+, so that is something to consider. I’d say the Raise can produce the same quality of prints as the Zortrax but requires more tuning to get there. The Zortrax delivers consistent top notch prints each and every time with minimal fiddling.

The Raise is more silent than the Zortrax, but the Zortrax is also very quiet. Raise is better from the touch screen standpoint and wifi control from the desktop. The Zortrax is pretty no frills when it comes to that.

The Raise has no assisted bed leveling at all and is a pain to level manually the first time. They say it never needs to be leveled, that is true once it is re-leveled at your location. But it is almost guaranteed to be out of whack after shipping.

The Zortrax has assisted bed leveling. I would personally recommend the Zortrax when talking about Raise N1 vs M200 build volume. This is due to the fact that the quality is more consistent and easily attainable on the Zortrax. You can also print PLA and other materials on the Zortrax now, and the software is no longer locked down.

Hope this helps your decision. Both are really excellent and well built machines. I would say the build quality on the Zortrax is slightly better.

Hi

Thanks for the info, really useful. I’m thinking I’ll get the pallete to use with my other printers.

The zortrax looks good but I really like to use simplify 3D so I’ll probably go for the raise. For what I print I need a really smooth first layer and so I’m thinking the raise would be better for this since the Zortrax bed looks perforated?

Yes that is correct. The Zortrax forces you to use a raft and the bottom is not very smooth. There are 3rd party products and programs that can get rid of it though and allow printing on other surfaces.

This is much easier on the Raise3d though where you can choose the Buildtak side or glass side of the removable build plate.
