For scanners it’s better to invest on a good photogrammetry software. and do the hard work with a normal camera.

Price by itself is a complicated criteria: there are printers ranging ftom US$ 180 to over US$ 20.000! It depends more on how much you want to spend and what you need out of it than how much “a printer” cost.

i’ll give some tips if you want to work on props for figurines (cosplay)

for printers, anything that can process ABS and if possible flexible materials. that means it NEEDS to have a heated bed (always check that in the data sheet of the printer)

If you want to fiddle with it, prusa i3 mk2s. If you have extra money to spare, check the Rostock max. it’s a delta 3d printer, so it’s faster but the print dimensions are different (less widht, more height)

A ready to play printer is the craftbot plus or cel robox (the last one has a smaller print volume, but it’s really cute)
