Hi

I just printed the advanced Marvin on my K8400. I’m kindda a newbie, so If you see anything (settings etc) I could tweake to improve the print, please comment.

Print temperature is set to 183° with PLA.

Cheers!

Looks great! Maybe you could make a fan setup to better cool your prints so you get less overhangs. Everything else is perfect! What’s the layer height? Bed temp?

Hi, thanks for your comments, layer height is 0,1mm, I do not have a heated bed… (the K8400 comes without, but can be altered later on if I find the need for heated bed. So far no problem with prints loosening)

I’ll see if I can order a 12v PC cabinet fan from ebay, and install it. Thanks for the tip

yes look’s good , more cooling as i did with my machine wil improve print’s.

cheers

You don’t need a fan that big! When I say fan for cooling, what I mean is a 20mm-40mm fan that rests on main body of the extruder. See if there’s fan holders for your printer or design one if you can. You want to cool down the filament only, having a fan resting next to the extruder pointed towards the area where the print is. If you get a big fan and cool down the whole case, you could cause light jamming due to temps near the extruder getting below the extruding temp. Your printer might even have a safety where it will stop printing if the extruder temp falls too low. My R1 will shut off and cancel a print if the extruder temp goes under 180C at any point. My pic is what I mean by fan.

I think I’ll print and mount this fan-duct. Hopefully this will help…

Hi, Buddy,

Well very good, looks nice. Well, the K8400 has lots and lots of issues. I have this printer for a long long time and i have try all kind of settings and trust me there are difference between PLA materials melting temperatures. I have use all kind of distributors there are not two PLA materials the same as consistence ( density) to get a right speed on printing. I have try different types of temperature sensors and also there are difference between them. Also i have use different types of heads and heaters ( with one or two heaters). same problem … Till you not try to see the filament flowing truth nosel and seeing that gluing with the other part printed you will not have success. I have made all kind of cases and i so them tearing a part because it didn’t due due to the filament temperature.

Anyway, success !!! …
