Dear All,

I work at high school, for Physics we have a projectile launcher to do meassurements with. It launches steel balls with a diameter 17.64 mm and mass 21.8 gr.

I would like to expand the possibilities by adding a set of 6 balls with exact the same diameter but all different in mass, made from any suitable material that can do the job. If they are all made out the same material it means 1 ball can be solid, the others should be hollow balls with a variety in the hollow space. To not damage the launch machine they should be in the exact diameter as well as perfectly round. Can this be done? and if so, at what costs? kind regards, Maurice Janson

Not with that sort of tolerance without post-machining. You’d be better turning them on the school lathes (if they have any) from different materials.
