Hi’
I have updated my ctc printer firmware from 7.2 to sailfish 7.7 and i now have a strange start procedure. I’ve made a video to show you and any help to stop it would be appreciated.

Kind Regards

update
i’ve since realized its makerware related, because i have no problem when i print via sd card so ive uninstalled MakerWare MakerBot desktop v3.7.0.108 and installed the version that came with the printer on a SD card version 2.4.1.24 and everything works fine now. so is 3.7 buggie or am i just unlucky i wonder.

I just remembered that I read somewhere that you should not print from the USB using maker ware. It actually causes bad prints. This may be it. Use the sd card for now. I also suggest simplify 3d. It’s worth it. Get comfortable with the printer first then upgrade to s3d

I think it’s something to do with the smaller minimum layer time in the new version s of maker ware.

That sounds like good advice.
I’ve done a lot of changes to my printer now and i’ve installed a 3 mm piece of glass to the bed and need to change the z offset, i’m not sure how to do it tho, do i use ReplicatorG?

also i had problems with clicking extruder motor so i printed some spring loaded housings and that sorted that problem. i also printed some brackets and got 4 sealed bearings and put them on the x axis i think might be y not sure.

so ya i’ve had my printer nearly 2 weeks and i’m getting to know it more each day.

In thingiverse you can find the part to offset the z. Don’t change the z offset in the software. It’s a physical piece that goes in the back of the bed where the z stop touches. Print the piece and just put it there so the z stop stops earlier and relevel the build plate. That’s all you have to do.

The pillow blocks are for the y axis. X is left to right and y is front to back.

Nice one, Thanks for that, im printing one now

oh ya btw im using makerware 3.6 and its working great i’ve been printing straight from there and my prints are looking real good, i understand that sd is more safe, but its not good keep taking the sd card out and putting in the pc then back again so i do it the lazy way  if i could see the sd card drive on my pc then i would use the sd more.

I would highly recommend ProftWeak ProfTweak - a MakerWare profile editor by nothinglabs - Thingiverse Its like having mini Simplify 3d in makerware and its really helpfull for addng things such as bed z offset on printers that don’t allow it in actual makerware

ok i will check it out when i get around to it.
at the moment my prints are coming out fantastic straight from makerware, i’ve made so many things now and yesterday i did my first ABS print and i had a nightmare getting it to stick to the bed and i found some spray glue from poundland and sprayed it on the bed, i let it dry, and made sure i printed on a raft and that did the job “Just” (extruder @ 247c) / (bed @ 87c)

my next challenge will be to use both extruders to make a multi colour print.

Yeah you’ll want to turn the bed up on the settings to 130°c and that will make the bed around 90 to 100°c and that will help you get abs to stick 87 is waaay to cold and dual extrusion shouldn’t be a problem with stock nozzles as there calibrated properly from factory if you need any tips or parts just send me a message and I’ll see what I’ve got as I keep a stock of parts for my own machine

Thanks for that
i can print small items with my settings and abs no probs, but its the bigger items that start to peel up i use a raft on all ABS prints but on big prints i’m left with an unusable object.

At the moment i’m trying to print a overhead spool holder as my final upgrade to the printer.
i have found a reel neat design but i’m having problems printing such a large item, so will raise the bed temps and hope the glass don’t crack lol. i cant wait to get my PLA and not have to worry about it peeling up.

Cheers

only thing is that simplify 3d cost about $149 per year per person

Its 149 per user buy its not pero years. Its not a yearly membership. I used maker ware for a while and I can say that s3d is very much worth it.

oh my mistake i fort it said per year lol
