Hi everyone,

I just found out this website because I’m looking for printing at least 100 coins (no more than 3 cm for the diameter.

I’m doing the model in 3d. It looks like a coin for 1 free drink or something like this, I imagine the cheapest material like plastic for prototyp.

There is a logo on it and some text also.

I was wondering if 3D printing is a good solution for me? and maybe if its possible to estimate a price by piece ?

Thank you !

Salomé

Hi @salome_bernhard whether 3D printing will work for the project will depend a lot upon the design of the coin. 3D printing can only print a certain level of detail so how good the coins will look will depend upon how large the logo is (and how complex its design) and how big the text is. Bear in mind also that one side of the coin is going to need to be flat (or designed carefully) because of the way FDM printers work. You may be able to get a detailed two-sided coin using SLA, but it would be much more expensive.

It’s difficult to give any idea of price without knowing the exact model and the level of detail required. If you have a 3D model, you can upload it to 3DHubs and get no obligation quotes from local printers.

Printing coins will work if you design it with one flat side and not to much detail on the other side. It is also possible to print a model and create a mold for the other coins and cast the rest. this way you can remove any imperfections and create coins faster. The cheapest plastic is probably PLA or ABS, I print them both for the same price. For 100 coins you should count for something between €20 to € 50

@salome_bernhard We can do the printing for you. Check us out at https://www.3dhubs.com/service/jmotechnology

thank you for your answer !

Yes I thought about the mold exactly it’s a good idea!

When you say 20€ - 50€ it’s for the 100 coins right or it’s for one ?
