Hi,

Just wanted to give a quick shoutout for the new 500g premium PLA filament spools from AIO Robotics. If you change colors a lot for your 3dhubs projects, 500g spool is convenient and you don’t have to open your full 1kg spools. The price starts at $9.99 for a spool and you can get it via Amazon Prime (free shipping). https://goo.gl/VeHSQd

Hey There!

This seems like a really good price, especially for the ±0.2 mm stated tolerance. I’m just wondering if there is anyone on YouTube (or similar) who has reviewed the filament or if there is any way to get a sample to test before purchasing a few spools. The smaller size at this price would be really good for offering more colours at my Hub.

Thanks,

Martin

Here is one review: http://armchairarcade.com/perspectives/2016/08/24/review-aio-robotics-aiowhite-pla-3d-printer-filament/

Also, there are some user reviews on Amazon with pictures. Hope this helps.

Is there any plan for international shipping, I am unable to order any of the filaments to Canada.

We can definitely help you: Please reach out to sales@aiorobotics.com with the filaments you would be interested in and we can provide you a quote including shipping to Canada.

Hmmm, it’s a couple bucks less than the 1K spool I use now but I could see a benefit to smaller spools if the color selection is big.

I might give it a try, do you have samples to try out?

Since you posted your ad here, I think it is fair to respond.

Every month or so a manufacturer will post cheaper spools that have less filament on them here. I am not sold by the idea.

You say your prices “start” at $9.99, but I see only one spool on there for that amount, white.

Your filament is actually 12.99 for most colors, which is more than I pay for my larger spools by volume. I pay $22.00 per kg. for large volume, top quality filament.

You do not have unique colors, so I would be paying more for the same filament I use and that I trust.

It seems what you have done here is lowered the volume and raised your price to not be competitive.

I also think there would be more waste in ordering smaller spools, as I do not like to have to watch my printer closely when I am getting short on filament, so I would not like to have so many nearly used spools, a result of having smaller volumes on each spool.

You need to sell me on your idea. I do buy five dollar filament small spools of neat colors, but do not see myself buying standard colors in small amounts.

Or you need to tell me why I should pay more for your filament, to get me off my current brand.

Or you need to offer new colors, for when I need that one off print of a weird color.

Or you need to offer bigger spools at a competitive price, perhaps partnering with 3dhubs so users can get a discount, since you are using their platform to market your product.

All AIO filaments spools have 3 different price tags on Amazon (sold by Amazon.com, Fulfilled by Amazon, and 3rd party merchant). 3rd party merchant (AIO Robotics) has a price tag of $9.99 on Amazon + shipping cost (which is relatively low per spool when filament bought in quantity). For small quantities we recommend Amazon Prime. You can also look at the bundle packages (12 filament spools for $99 amazon prime - in average a spool costs here $8.25).

Both 500g / 1 kg spools have their advantages/disadvantages. It really depends on if you are a frequent/non-frequent 3d printer user, what type of 3d printer you are using (non-proprietary/proprietary), if you prefer switching colors a lot or tend to print your objects in a few selected colors. We listed some advantages for 500g spools here: http://www.zeus.aiorobotics.com/filament
