Hi all,
Another university suggested I start a thread here about my questions. I am a student with Memorial University of Newfoundland currently working on its new Digital Design and Prototyping Lab. We have several different Rapid Prototyping machines in there but the main focus is 3D Printing. The ultimate goal for this lab is for it to be a prototyping service center for our university’s undergraduates, graduates, staff, faculty, and even external clients.
I recently found out that the university has a small potential budget (<5000) to purchase a new 3D printer. We currently have 6 uPrint SE machines which can only print ABSplus in ivory, and a Formlabs Form 2 printer.
I was wondering what would be some 3D printers that I should look into, so it could round out our lab?
I currently do not have a lot of feedback on the interests of 3D printing since our lab is not official yet. I was thinking of a printer that can print various colors which has a pretty good layer size that can satisfy the needs of colored parts. A few constraints with the purchase is that I do not have a lot of space for it and the budget of <$5000 CAD; something like the Ultimaker 2.
What do you all think?
Thanks,
Michael Tan
